Paint Night

Have you ever experienced a Paint Night out with a friend or relative? It's super fun.  In the city closest to where we live, there are a few options - held in various locations.  They're a little pricey, but its a fun night out and a great test of your creativity.  My girls & I did one recently, for Valentines, and it was held in a beautiful green house, soft music playing, drinks served... it was lovely - relaxing and its amazing how 20 people can be taught how to paint the same picture, and they all turn out different... it just goes to show we all have our uniqueness about us!  I highly recommend it - check it out!

Are you making fitness a part of your daily regimen?

Maybe you haven't started your fitness journey yet... maybe you're searching for the right time, the right place, the right exercise... someone to do it with perhaps.  There's really no better time to start than right now.  Start small even.  Pick something you enjoy, or something you want to work on.  Do you need strength training? Endurance? Weight Loss? Or are you struggling with some health issues that maybe the Doc has told you that you need to move your body more for your overall health - your heart maybe, or maybe you're too rigid & not very flexible... whatever the case is... there is something that is suitable just for you.  Make your own routine... just start one.

Success and meaningful change are rarely the result of grand, isolated actions, but rather the cumulative effect of small, consistent actions performed over time

Myself, I love to walk... but as I get older I dislike walking in the super cold or if the wind is bad, so I make excuses.  But I've decided to move my body indoors if the weather isn't ideal.  I ride my stationary bike and have started pilates ... I'm going at my own pace & doing what I can... and that's okay.  Turn on Youtube and find an exercise video that's suitable for you - there's plenty out there.

Stories to be read or told

Reading & writing are foundational - we all had to learn them.  They are essential for critical thinking, learning, engaging & effective communication.  In my opinion, those that don't take the time to read are missing the ability to experience different lives, cultures & times.  You may even end up with stagnant thinking & a very narrow view of things.  I like to read all kinds of different books - I read fiction, non-fiction, christian living, autobiographies, devotionals, health & wellness, gardening, cookbooks, etc.... I love looking at magazines... my husband & I still like to stand & browse through the magazine & book section of the grocery store.  The selection is getting slimmer though, but there's still nothing like the feel of a book or magazine in your fingers and the smell of the paper... ahhhh I love it!  A couple times a year we travel a few hours from our home, to a beautiful christian bookstore and I can spend hours browsing and soaking in the atmosphere... the books, the decor... the cards, bibles, bookmarks... I used to work at a christian book store, and sadly the online market was its demise... cause I would have retired there.

I ask you this... have you picked up a book lately? Or how about a pen & paper? Maybe you like to write, or journal? I like to do that as well.  I wish I had more time to do this.  Sadly that is all of our excuses these days... we put everything off... fitness, reading, writing, self care.... I think we should take more time for these things, broaden our horizons a little.

If I can suggest something...search out a little hole in the wall book store & coffee shop & become engrossed... you just might enjoy it!
